Dental implant FAQs
The dentist will administer a local anaesthetic before placing your dental implants. You are unlikely to feel any discomfort during the procedure.
You may experience a small amount of discomfort just after treatment, as the numbness from the anaesthetic wears off. This can last for up to ten days following the treatment and can usually be alleviated with at-home pain medication.
The placement of dental implants is a straightforward surgical treatment that can be completed under local anaesthetic.
Your dentist will take between 1 and 2 hours to carefully insert each implant.
They will then close the incision to allow the area to heal and your implants to bond with the bone underneath your gumline.
This usually takes between 6 and 12 weeks.
You will be able to clean and look after your new implants in exactly the same way you do your natural teeth. Make sure you regularly brush them, use dental floss and visit one of our dental hygienists every six months.
